One of the highlights of WonderCon was the great Scott Shaw! Oddball Comics panel. Scott is one of the most talented guys around. He has worked in both the comics and animation field for many years on such projects as Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew, Sonic the Hedgehog, Annoying Orange, Camp Candy, The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimly, Muppet Babies and many more. He also worked at Hanna-Barbera where he worked on most of the Flintstones Fruity Pebbles commercials and cereal box artwork. He is also one of the nicest person that you could ever meet. He has great and funny stories of all of the things that he has done over the years.
One of the best is the Oddball Comics show that he does at conventions and had done them at local theaters in Los Angeles from time to time. Not only is Scott a fan of comics he has a great passion for comic covers that are weird, funny, horrifying and very politically incorrect. Over the years he has amassed a collection of these Oddball covers and has a slide presentation for them. It’s one thing to show these covers but Scott’s stories and anecdotes for them that make them funnier than they already are.
I have included some of the covers that he had in his show. Some of the covers I have found better copies than the photos that I had taken at the panel. I will not comment on most of them because there is absolutely no way that I can describe them as well as Scott does. You really need to go and see his show at a convention because it will be the funniest panel that you will ever see in your life. Here is a small sampling of some of the strangest comic book covers that you will ever see.
